My Day =)

So yeah my day today started good =) I'm full of energy and super happy because today is a new day and I thank God I'm alive. Anyways its early on the morning and we have to get ready for another day to record for our Radio Station. This week we going to see the new Harry Potter Movie and we going to finish recording for our Radio. Also, this week we finish the summer program and on Thursday we going to have a BBQ ; yummy ! My weekend was good since I spend time with my close friends and we had a bugout like always. We went to eat, updated each other and walked around. On Friday I got my first check =) but couldn't buy anything since I had to pay the bill of my phone but anyways on Thursday we get the bonus check and with that I'm going to buy a new phone. Hopefully this week will be an excited one and that I will never forget ;)

Summer classes

The college Bound summer classes are almost over :/ Well I had learned a lot this summer since I had a great experience on the Field trips and I spend time with amazing people that will always be in my heart. I have a couple of projects to do this week before the program ends. I know we going to enjoy this last days to the max. The technology class had been fun since we been recording for our Radio Station that soon will be coming on air =) The first time we were recording was super cool since we were talking like if we were having a great conversation and trust me the TOPiC was interesting ;) Anyways in English class we made a poem about our Journey. We are practicing for our Road Trip scene and Im the Production Manager and the Narrator. Also, we are reading the Alchemist which is a Journey of a guy and he learned things from different people. In the math class our project is about a summer vacation trip in 3 different locations and we need to know how much we spend on everything during the vacation. In science we have to make a poem or a story and make believe we are a water molecule and explain what we do and everything. As the program is almost over I know Im going to be having more fun and learning a lot of new things.

Canoeing Field Trip ( 7.23.09 )

Last thursday Group A & D went canoeing. That was a good and bad experience because some groups got lost and we had fun too. Kevin, Marisol, Daphine and me; we were canoeing together and that was too funny since we were one of the groups that got lost and we even saw things moving in the water as we were going. Also, the girls, we were terrified since there were a lot of insects and they were getting into the canoe. We learned that the water was fresh and the other part was salty water and that waves are caused by surface tension and friction. My group was so scared because when we got lost no other groups were in back of us until we saw the group of Pumba, Kimberly and Santiago but then we found out that the way we were going was a wrong direction. When we got out thats when all the screaming started since the canoe didn't want to make a turn and we were about to go to the Hudson River =0 that would of been bad. Marisol and me helped Kevin and Daphine to make the turn since the waves were too strong and the canoe was going to flip. In this field trip we went through a lot but it was worth since we were learning how to canoe and I could say that ( Kevin ) was the SUPERHERO of the day because if it wasn't cause of him, us girls wouldn't survive by ourself. At the last minute when we were getting to the end of the canoe trip, our canoe flip and that was fun since the water was cold and outside was too hot and we were sticky but everyone blamed it on me since they said it was my fault because I didn't help but thats not true =) I will never forget this day, it is a good memory to keep.

College Bound Days

I'm so excited about tomorrow since we going canoeing and hiking in New York. Its going to be a fun field trip since as a group we going to be together and get to know each other more like everyday. Also, I'm excited since we going to be recording for our Internet Radio Station and we going to be learning how to be a DJ and there's going to be a lot of information that I know everyone will like to hear. Even thought we are having classes we also having field trips for we can't get bored during our summer. For English class we had to read ( a long way gone ) it was an awesome book but I didn't like the ending a lot since I think, it could of been better but thanks God that Ishmael wasn't a soldier for the rest of his life since we went through a lot until he moved to New York for a better life and he never gave up. He always kept on going since he had a good attitude. College Bound this summer had been a great experience for me and there's more to learn about it.

College Bound Radio

The College Bound Radio makes every group work as a team and we give our best to make it work since its sometimes hard because we have different opinions. Im going to be going on air and its going to be a great experience since im going to be like a DJ and be able to feel how things work when someone works on a Radio. I work with Arelis, Giselle, Sharon and Daphine. We are the ones that need to put together whats going to be on air in our Radio Station and the songs we going to play. It is fun to work with this girls since we always find a way to have fun in class and at the same time work in our Radio Station to bring the best of us on air and for everyone to like it. We dont have that much experience on this but I know our Radio Station will come out good and everyone will want more and more of it. I hope everyone will love it and as they hear it they will enjoy it.

Science Trip ( Hackensack River ]

The field trip was fun and interesting since we got on a boat and we learned a lot of different things that happened with the water at meadowlands. We tried to get a couple of fishes but that didn't work out so good since we were a little lost. Also we draw a mountain and we had to color the high parts of it and then put circles in the spots we thought the water was going to stay in. When I spray the water to my mountain it was kind of fun since the water actually went to the spots I circle. In this field trip I learned about different type of birds and how they survived. For example, we saw a bird that was with her kids and she made us follow her because she thought we were going to do something bad to her little kids and that was cute since she was trying to protect her little birds from us. The ride on the boat was interesting because we learned that the river was very contaminated and now its more clean since people that live around there are trying to keep it clean to have a nice view.

Second Date at the Summer Program

Being in Jose Marti for the summer program of College Bound had been interesting and a great experience so far. It is different from the other jobs that most of my friends have like some of them work in DPW and others in a Day Care but in the College Bound Program this summer its different from my working experience of last year. Last summer I used to work in a Day Care taking care of kids but now this summer is different since Im working and at the same time learning more about Math, Science, Language Arts and Technology. Most of the classes are fun and some are so boring that I just start thinking about other things to keep my mind busy. Im so excited since we going to be working and at the same time having a lot of fun since we going on a lot of fun field trips and hopefully we go camping to get to meet more of our buddies from the program since we dont really know them. With this summer classes I know that we are going to have a lot of great memories to keep in our mind for the rest of our life and Im looking foward to have more fun in College Bound and learn a lot of different things as years go by.

College Bound

It had been a great experience to be part of the College Bound Program since I was able to make new friends and meet great people. I had learned a lot since the first day I got into the program with the help of my tutors and mentors. Everyone had been a great support for me and this is one of the memories I want to keep to remember it when I get older. Once I finish High School I will be really proud of myself for keeping up with the hard work I did with this program and all the things I had learned because of it. College Bound had made me a better student and I'm glad I'm in it since there's a lot of other students that want to be part of this family that we are.

"Teenage years aren't always easy"

Life doesn't seem to be easy when we are in our teenage years. Chanelle a 17 year-old Junior at Saint Peter's Prep was one of the most recognized students in the school. She lived with her parents and she was the only child in the family. There was a lot of boys that liked Chanelle but she wasn't interested in any of them because she always said to herself "I'm going to be successful if I focus on school, rather then other things that won't take me anywhere in life."

Chanelle wasn't like the other girls in her school; she was different. There was something about her that everyone liked; her attitude and passion for school was incredible. She never handed late work. In all her classes she always stood out, and teachers loved her because she was sweet and determined most of the time. She didnt have many friends. Her best-friend Katie got pregnant and Chanelle didn't want to be associated with her. Chanelle chose her education over her best-friend.

Chanelle's parents were really proud of her because she was becoming an amazing girl and a role model. They were always there for Chanelle every time she needed them and gave her good advice that made her the beautiful young lady that she is now.

Even though she said to herself that she wasn't going to be with any guy until she started her career as a lawyer, she met Joey an 18 year-old Senior at the same school she goes too. It was awkward how they met because she never in her life expected it to happen. He was a football player and she used to go to the games with her friends to see her school's team play. One night after a game she was walking home alone because her friends had left her, and Joey decided to be a good guy and walk her home.

"Hey, I'm Joey and if you let me, I'll walk you home if you want! If there’s no problem," said Joey.

"No thanks Joey," Chanelle said, "I can walk alone. Anyways, it's still early and nothing is going to happen to me."

Joey kept on asking her until she finally said yes. They were both walking together and getting to know each other more. Chanelle didn't say much, since she wasn't really interested in him and she knew that if he walked her home that means he liked her or he wanted something else.

Months passed by, and it was January 15 when Joey finally made his move after being friends with Chanelle for so long. Everyone in school was surprised because it was weird that Chanelle was talking to a guy and especially a football player, but everyone had heard rumors about them. She was anxious but at the same time scared, because she didn't know what she was going to do. It was either pick the guy of her dreams or continue to be the girl that doesn't have many friends, doesn't have a boyfriend like the other girls and only thinks about school.

She thought about it a lot of times, yet that determined girl she used to be was fading away when this guy came into her life. Now she saw life differently. Chanelle was thinking about marrying him; she was forgetting about the old smart girl that thinks only about school.

After thinking and thinking about how her life was going to be if she had a boyfriend she decided to tell Joey her answer.

Chanelle told him nervously, "I have been thinking about us being together and I want to give it a try."

"Baby, I'm so glad you decided to be my girl, I promise you won't regret it. You’re the girl I have been looking for my entire life,” Joey said, smiling afterwards.

When they first started going out, Chanelle and Joey had their up and downs like every couple had and they fixed their problems without having arguments about them. A lot of people tried to break them up because they were too cute together. Even teachers were afraid that Chanelle was going to change now that she had a boyfriend, but it wasn't like that, she was still the same girl.

One year passed and everything seemed to be working out for both of them. Chanelle kept on with the good work in school and she was still a recognize student. Also, she was a great girlfriend because she helped Joey a lot with his homework and made sure that he did well in school just like her.

October 13, 2008 was the day that everything changed for the couple especially for Chanelle. That day she didn't feel too good. She had a headache, went to the bathroom a couple times to throw up and she was always hungry. Chanelle started to worry about her symptoms and the only thing that came to her mind was that she was pregnant. Now what's going to happen to her career as a lawyer and making her parents proud of her? And she didn't want to disappoint the teachers who believed in her. All of this was on her mind. She asked herself: "hat I'm going to do now? How do I tell my parents? She didn't know how she was going to tell Joey, he was a freshman in college and he had a lot in mind too.

But what was the teenage girl going to do, now that her dreams were fading? She wasn't ready to have a baby. Chanelle was only 18-years-old and she didn't even have enough money for herself or a family. Joey was in college and he had to pay for things too.

Everything happened really fast. They were too young just to know what the right decision for them was. Chanelle and Joey made the best decision of their life even though they knew they would struggle. They decided to have the baby no matter what others said.They made the right decision because they couldn't take away another life since it's not their fault about the decisions that their parents made.
